Top US ZIP Codes for Home Price Growth — August 2026
The 300 strongest zip-code markets in America by realized 12-month home-price growth, ranked from the Zillow Home Value Index — real published index data, not a forecast and not a portal estimate. Every zip below has its own free market report: median value, growth, momentum and metro context. Michigan markets are excluded on purpose — they get deeper, locally-written guides instead.
Methodology (read before acting on any number)
Ranked from the Zillow Home Value Index (Zillow Research), all homes SFR+condo as of August 2026: markets in the top third of Zillow's size ranking (where clients actually transact), median value at or above $150,000, positive 12-month growth, then ranked by realized growth with a cap of 5 zips per metro and 20 per state so the set genuinely covers the country. Typical set median value: $284,841. These are realized changes, not predictions — no statement on this page is a promise of future value or a substitute for a per-property market analysis.

Questions people ask about this ranking
What are the top zip codes for home price growth in the US right now?
This report ranks the 300 strongest US zip markets by realized 12-month change in the Zillow Home Value Index (all homes, single-family and condo, seasonally adjusted) as of August 2026. As of this build, San Francisco's 94114 (+19.5%), 94123 (+18.9%) and 94118 (+18.8%) lead the set, followed by Winnetka, IL (60093) and New York's 10470 in the Bronx. Each linked page carries the zip's median value, growth, momentum and metro context.
How were these 300 zip codes selected?
From roughly 26,000 zips tracked by Zillow's ZHVI: (1) keep markets of meaningful size (top third by Zillow's market-size rank — places where buyers and sellers actually transact), (2) keep median values at or above $150,000, (3) keep only zips with positive 12-month growth, (4) rank by realized growth and cap at 5 zips per metro and 20 per state so the list covers the country rather than three boom towns. Michigan zips are excluded because they have their own, deeper local guides on this site.
Is this a forecast? Will these zip codes keep going up?
No. These are realized (already happened) 12-month changes from a published index, not predictions — Zillow's forecast dataset is no longer published in a machine-readable form, and this site does not guess. Past growth says nothing about future returns. Use the reports to understand where demand has been strongest, then verify any specific property with a live comparative market analysis.
